Rules
for Volunteers at El Peregrino
- We ask that you let us
know in advance if you change your arriving or leaving date; it is
important for our organization.
- The only things that are
strictly forbidden at the farm are alcohol and drugs of any kind.
We also ask that, if you smoke, you look for open spaces away from the
house and galpón.
- As you are sharing the
bedroom with other volunteers, please respect one anothers' needs for
rest. We suggest that you use the bedroom for sleeping
only. If you want to read with the lights on, listen to music,
etc, you will need to find another place in the house or yard.
- Everyone is mindful of
organization and cleanliness in the house. We take turns doing
various chores in the house: gathering firewood for the oven and
fireplace, taking out the compost, and the trash, cleaning the bedroom,
watering the lawn, etc.
- The food in the house is
vegetarian. We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as
fruit during the day, but we do not provide sweets or other
snacks. You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare foods to
your liking.
- Follow the agreed schedule
of working and resting hours.
- We work Monday through
Saturday. On Fridays we harvest fruits and vegetables and prepare
them for sale at the farmers' market, which is every Saturday in
Mendoza. You may come to the market or stay at the farm; normally
the jobs on Saturdays are a bit more laidback. We work 8 hours
each day, combining strenuous and easy work, outdoor and indoor jobs,
always with respect to the weather.
Sunday is your day off. You may stay and relax or go
and see some of the beautiful places in the mountains of our region.
