"Volunteer work" is
an exchange in
which all of us are enriched and each of us participates actively in
all the different tasks of farm life, gaining knowledge and skills we
can use for the rest of our lives. We are looking for volunteers
with enthusiasm and interest in this exchange and who understand that
living with us on our farm demands dedication, genuine interest in farm
life and compromise. Though it may be a short stay, the
atmosphere is familial, and each volunteer who picks up and continues
his journey leaves behind a family and a home for the rest of his life
and takes with him the gift of Friendship.
THE WORK
Productive season: November to April
During
this time of sowing, nurturing and harvesting, we also do a fair
amount of canning and dehydrating of fruits and tomatoes. We are
also constructing using natural techniques. It is a time of great
activity, but we try to relax with bonfires (once a week), yoga (every
day) and free time for conversing with one another.
Winter season:
April to October
In
the wintertime, we dedicate about 4 hours per day to working in the
garden and 2 or 3 hours to bioconstruction. It is the time to
plant flower gardens, fences, and trails; the time to shape and sculpt
our garden and home. There is more time for dialogue and
reflection, and planning for the next productive season.
We
work 8 to 10 hour days, depending on the activity and weather, weekdays
and Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon and Sunday are yours to
relax, at the farm or in town, as you wish.
We
will happily
receive you to visit and/or volunteer if
you write us in advance at
quinaviva@yahoo.com.ar. As we are still in the process of setting
up our farm in its permanent form, we are very thankful for all the
help volunteers provide. We have a cabin for volunteers with 5
beds and can accomodate up to 10 people (in summer) if some
stay in
tents.
